Surgery: Dental extraction

Reasons

Regardless of the reason we need to extract a tooth (simple or complex extraction), there are now extraction techniques that allow us to minimize the pain felt during and after the procedure.

Here are the reasons that can lead to an extraction: extensive cavities (impossible to make a sustainable restoration); a tooth fracture that can’t be fixed; fractured tooth at the root level; poorly positioned tooth; lack of space in the mouth; the persistence of a baby tooth after the eruption of the adult tooth; failure of endodontic treatment (root canal treatment); gum disease that is too advanced;

Extraction

There is often a pre-extraction appointment: the dentist will perform a clinical and radiological examination of the tooth to be extracted and will be able to give you an estimate of the costs.

The period following surgery varies from one person to another depending on the complexity of the surgery and also varies depending on how the patient complies with postoperative advice: diet, medication, no smoking, application of ice, no intense physical activity, etc.
